Kia works as a Program Manager for the Policy and Regulatory Environment Program supporting the realisation of the various events and projects that GOGLA is involved in and pushing for a better policy environment for the sector.
Prior to joining GOGLA in July 2019, Kia worked on several projects that combined her interest in SDGs, sustainable growth and gender. This included working as a teacher on CSR and sustainability in South Korea and conducting fieldwork in Jakarta focusing on creating better policies for the garment sector. Finally, she ended up working for a start-up that distributes and manufactures off-grid hybrid products which introduced her to the world of off-grid energy solutions. Although she enjoyed working in operations, she missed engaging with different stakeholders and wanted to be able to positively influence the policy environment to become more open to players in the off-grid industry. This is how she found her way to GOGLA.
Kia holds a Masters degree in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelors degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Sheffield. She is fluent in English and Finnish, but you can also try to talk to her in French and Swedish.
