The Energy and Environment Partnership Trust Fund (EEP Africa) provides risk tolerant early-stage grant financing for locally-driven innovative clean energy projects and businesses in Southern and Eastern Africa. EEP Africa grants are flexible and designed to act like equity without shareholding. Financing is supplemented by technical support, investment facilitation and knowledge sharing. EEP Africa aims to cultivate close relationships with its grantees and sector partners to optimise efficiency of support and knowledge generation, as well as understanding of its impact in the sector.

EEP Africa is hosted and managed by the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) with funding from Austria, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, NDF, Norway and Switzerland. Thematic expertise and regional presence is provided by the implementation support partners, SNV and Open Capital, who work in close collaboration with NDF across all EEP Africa activities (see the team here). Since 2010, EEP Africa has disbursed more than EUR 60 million to over 270 pioneering projects in 15 countries.
