VentureBuilder partners with African-owned and -managed distributors, providing early-stage equity financing and enterprise development services to help launch and scale businesses that will provide millions of people with affordable, reliable, and modern electricity services. Across Africa, local distributors have years of experience serving their customers with a variety of essential products, but often lack the funding and expertise to pivot into or scale their off-grid solar operations. We believe our unique combination of support will help local enterprises play a vital role in unlocking new off-grid solar markets. VentureBuilder is an initiative of Catalyst Off-Grid Advisors and Open Capital Advisors, and leverages both firms’ deep experience in building, advising, and financing off-grid solar enterprises. VentureBuilder was developed with support from Facebook, the DOEN Foundation, Shell Foundation, and USAID, and partners with organizations that share our mission, such as USADF.
