In late March it was announced that the SunTurtle from GOGLA member BRIGHT Products has been awarded the RedDot Design Award. The small, multifunctional solar lantern can be attached to any bottle as a lamp stand, and comes with the patented "FlexFoot" that allows the light to be used on a table, on the wall or fixed in the ceiling. The protected "Air Flow system" allows air to cool down the battery case under the integrated solar panel. This will increase product lifespan and protect the battery from overheating. The name SunTurtle is inspired by the sweet shape of the product. The turtle is one of the oldest symbols of wisdom, knowledge and education, making a perfect fit for a product made especially as a reading light for children. The Red Dot Design Award received more than 15,500 applications from 70 countries in 2013 alone, making the competition one of the biggest and most prestigeous design awards worldwide. BRIGHT Products from Norway and their partners K8 Industrial Design (Norway) has received several international awards for their versatile product designs. Their first product, the SunBell has been awarded the International Design Award, first prize in The Common Pitch and Most Innovative Product of the year 2013 from the Alliance For Rural Electrification.
