The 2nd Off-grid Energy Access Investor Conference, organized by GOGLA in cooperation with BNEF, Quadia and SolarAid, took place on Wednesday, 17th December, at the Bloomberg Auditorium in London. The event brought together investors and industry representatives and engaged them in a dialogue about the present and future developments in the off-grid sector. After an inspiring opening by BNEF’s Chief Execuitve Jon Moore and Duke Energy’s former CEO Jim Rogers, the audience was introduced to the recent trends, developments and investment needs in the sector.
The floor was given to both off-grid companies and investors to present their activities and plans. WakaWaka, BBOXX and Solar Works shared their fascinating stories with the audience and gave some insights into their financing record and future needs, which would help them scale up.
Four investor cases: responsAbility, DEG Invest, Persistent Energy Capital and Bloomberg Philanthropies, brought the investor perspective closer to companies. This was followed by a dynamic discussion between industry and investor representatives. The active involvement of the audience showed the relevance of the discussed topics.
The presentations could be found here. Another event of that kind will take place in March 2015, in New York. Expect more information to follow in the beginning of 2015.
