During the "Off Grid Experts" event in September, the multifunctional "SunBell" lamp from GOGLA member BRIGHT Products won a new international award. BRIGHT Products is a young company, but has already received global recognition for their innovative product design. In September the SunBell was awarded "Most innovative Product 2013" by a jury from The Alliance for Rural Electrification. The jury especially commented on the multifunctional qualities of the SunBell, and how it can be adapted to different user situations. “The innovative solar lamp is mainly distinguished by its practical and user-friendly design. Moreover, it contributes to your personal independence and makes it easy to use solar energy“, the jury announced.
Bright Products is a Norwegian company established in 2012. Their vision is "A world where people see new possibilities", and this is deeply embedded in their approach to product and business development. Their award winning product the SunBell works beautifully as task light, ceiling light and portable light, and also comes with a USB phone charger. Their new product, the SunTurtle is a smart, simple and sustainable reading light for children, that can use a bottle or a patented FlexFoot as lamp fixture for many purposes. All products are designed by K8 Industrial Design in Norway. Optimal charging is secured with the patented Sunboost3 technology and are produced in Thailand.
The Off-Grid Experts Award is the first contest that prizes particularly innovative developments, experiences and impressions in the field of autonomous energy supply. The award ceremony was celebrated in the context of the 3rd Off-Grid Experts Workshop in Memmingen, Germany. Under the motto “Energy Autonomy”, system integrator Phaesun GmbH organised this contest for the first time this year. The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) supported the contest and acted as a jury with their chairmen for the categories product and project.
