The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association and the Global Lighting Association are Teaming up to Promote Sustainable Lighting Solutions

Munich, Germany – Energy efficient, clean, and affordable lighting solutions are a great concern to many people around the world, especially to those not connected to the power grid. The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) is now partnering with the Global Lighting Association (GLA) to work on these topics together. Wolfgang Gregor, Secretary General of GOGLA asserts that “off-grid lighting can’t be seen in isolation and needs to leverage all synergies with grid lighting”. The commitment to a strong partnership had been confirmed through the signing of a partnership agreement that will improve information sharing and communication, as well as enable greater ongoing coordination and exchange of knowledge between the off-grid lighting sector and the global lighting industry.   photoThe partnership is built on the common objective of promoting sustainable and energy efficient lighting solutions. GOGLA’s President Harry Verhaar welcomed the cooperation: “As GOGLA we are very pleased with the cooperation agreement with the Global Lighting Association. It brings two worlds together, the long experience with existing grid-connected lighting in the GLA, and the new Solar-LED lighting stakeholder platform of GOGLA. This will be in the interest of many people for whom access to lighting will lead to an improvement of the quality of their lives”. The Global Lighting Association (www.globallightingassociation.org) promotes the use of sustainable, energy efficient lighting solutions while maintaining and improving the quality of lighting. GLA functions as a forum for exchange and formulation of technical and policy information and is a recognized authority on issues of concern to the global lighting industry.   GOGLA has been established to act as the advocate of the off-grid lighting industry with a focus on small and medium enterprises. It is a neutral, independent, not-for-profit association created to promote lighting solutions that benefit society and businesses in developing and emerging markets. GOGLA will support industry in the market penetration of clean, quality alternative lighting systems.
