The GOGLA country briefs review the status of sub-Saharan African countries’ off-grid solar markets, as well as relevant policies and programs. GOGLA developed this series of briefing notes with the support of the World Bank Group Lighting Global Program, the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), USAID/Power Africa, Africa Clean Energy Technical Assistance Facility (ACE TAF), and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll).
We have updated our country briefs to include new information on national industry associations, e-waste policies, product quality standards, investments, sector support programmes, and the status of the off-grid solar market. The briefs collect information from several sources such as the World Bank, ACE TAF market updates, and the GOGLA Global Off-Grid Market report. The briefs include the latest GOGLA sales and impact data from H1 2021 (January to June 2021). Finally, new briefs are now available for eleven countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. These new resources join our collection of briefs on Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia.
