Practical Action - Eastern Africa

Practical Action is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. Practical Action Eastern Africa Regional Office has been delivering technology as its niche in the region for over 25 years and one of its Programs is Universal Access to Energy. The aim is to promote equitable access to modern energy services for cooking, lighting, communication and productive uses across the Eastern Africa region where women and men make informed choices to access appropriate and affordable energy technologies and services. They promote viable and efficient technologies with a focus on renewable household energies and decentralized energy systems.

In this line Practical Action Eastern Africa promotes:

➢ Effective energy delivery models
➢ Awareness on the part of beneficiaries
➢ Innovative financing mechanisms
➢ Mainstreaming gender in delivery of energy services.
