A primary purpose of an industry association is to advocate on behalf of its members, usually companies or private individuals, and their interests to government stakeholders such as policymakers, regulators, or competition and legal authorities. The industry association’s aim is to shape regional, national or sub-national policy frameworks such as markets, regulation, and administrative processes, in order to improve the business environment for the companies it represents to thrive.
