Off-grid solar expected to electrify 624 million people by 2030 but ‘game changers’ are needed to achieve universal access goals.
Over the past decade, the biennial Off-Grid Solar Market Trends Report (MTR) has been the go-to source of sector information for investors, industry members, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the sector. The 2022 report is split into two parts.
- ‘State of the Sector’: provides insights into key trends in the off-grid solar sector over the past two years, including business models, technologies, competitive landscape and funding. The report also includes an expanded focus on the productive use of energy.
- ‘Outlook’: explores four off-grid electrification scenarios: Conservative, Projected, Optimistic and SDG7. It also reveals the game changers needed to accelerate access to solar energy kits and efficient appliances.
The two-part 2022 MTR Series is published by the World Bank’s Lighting Global, the International Finance Corporation, GOGLA, Efficiency for Access Coalition, and Open Capital Advisors.
